Brewing beer is a thousand-year old tradition that has now become more and more popular. With advances in science and brew technology, making great beer at home is a great hobby that offers you hours of enjoyment and the benefit of a great home-brew. With the guidance, you can become the head brew master for your friends and family. The Horse Town Brew n’ Que Festival offers a hands on class that takes you through the basic and gets you started in the world that will top your hops.

Brew 101 Class will give the novice the basics tools begin brewing beer at home.

 

By the end of the course you will be able to:

Identify different types and styles of beer.

Understand the basic equipment necessary to home-brew.

Recognize how malt, hops and yeast affect beer flavor.

Learn how to properly sanitize, use and store equipment.

Set up the brewing area. Brew a basic extract recipe.

Develop techniques for measuring alcohol content

Beer samples will be distributed
